One day in Provence

Tours avaible from Avigon, Aix-en-Provence or Marseille

Full Day

  • PROVENCE DAY TOURS OPTIONS

    Famous Luberon villages

Gordes, one of the most famous villages in the area, exactly what you imagine of Provence. Roussillon, just a few kilometers away, also very typical of Provence and yet totally different with its orange, brown and yellow cliffs. Lacoste, where the Château of the Marquis de Sade can be seen on the hilltop, Ménerbes, where Picasso came during WWII, also very unique.

Sometime during the day, we can stop at the lavender museum to learn more about this very special plant.

    Avignon

Avignon is a highlight of Provence. The popes lived here for almost a century (14th) and this changed the destiny of the city and nearby towns. We will see the main sites and monuments, the Popes' palace, the famous bridge, but also discover the charming streets, secrets squares, beautiful 17th and 18th century palaces and the synagogue.

In the afternoon, we can drive up to Orange (30 minutes) to admire one of the best preserved Roman theaters and the arch of triumph built by the Romans 2000 years ago. Châteauneuf du Pape, the famous wine village will be the last stop for the day… with tasting, of course.

    The Alpilles

St Rémy de Provence where Van Gogh spent the last year of his life (in a mental institution). We will see the hospital (originally a 11th C monastery), and also the charming town of St Rémy (nice shops, lovely squares…). Les Baux de Provence, a spectacular medieval fortress built on a ship shaped cliff. We will probably want to see the incredible light and sound show in former stone quarries. The show changes every year.
